Our relief is a copy of “Athena mourning” that was found in the Parthenon. Dated to ca. 450 BC. Acropolis Museum, Athens.

The Pensive (Mourning) Athena, circa 460 BC is one of the most moving sculptures in Classical Greece. The votive relief of Athena wearing Doric peplos, barefoot, with her helmet, and her spear point down.
